Newsletter 4/26

 Here are some updates on the info being taught this next week in Chinese/English. 

English literacy
  •  Unit 6 Week 2: Question of the week: "What traditions and celebrations involve our country's flag?"

Chinese literacy:

We will start Lesson 9 in Singapore 2 A. For directions on how to access Singapore 2 A, see previous blog post here.  Our Chinese test on this unit will be this Friday.
  • Vocabulary we will be learning to write:
    • 放 fàng-to release, to free, to let go,
    • 尺 chǐ-ruler
    • 皮 pí-leather, skin, fur, naughty
    • 刀 dāo- knife
    • 以 yǐ - to use, according to, so as to, by means of, by, with, because
    •  课 kè- subject, course, class, lesson
    • 具 jù- tool, device, utensil, equipment
    • 专 zhuān- to focus, concentrated
    • 动 dòng- to use, to act, to move, to change
  • Vocabulary we will be learning to read/listen to/say: All on the Singapore website in the stories and in the stories sent home to practice reading (Year 2 Unit 9).
Math:
  • Unit 10: "Place Value to 1,000" Test on Friday.
Homework Expectations:

In both English and Chinese classes, homework will now be given Monday-Thursday.

English: daily practice of spelling and vocabulary from weekly story. 
Math: English worksheet reinforcing concepts taught in Chinese class daily.
Chinese: homework will consist of character practice, character worksheets, or reading.

Newsletter 4/12/13

 Here are some updates on the info being taught this next week in Chinese/English. 

English literacy
  • Story: Unit 5 Week 6: Review of Unit 5
  • Unit Test on Friday 4/19. Please make sure students review concepts through the daily homework.
Chinese literacy:

GOOD JOB to everyone on the last Chinese test. Students' work is paying off and many students did better on this test than any other test! Keep up the good work :)

Newsletter 4/5/2013

 Here are some updates on the info being taught this next week in Chinese/English. 

English literacy
Mrs. Campo has been sick this whole week! We hope she feels better soon!


Chinese literacy: We will continue Lesson 6 in the Singapore 2 A textbook. It is about two different stories about different games, either on the playground or inside. Singapore website is found here. Instructions on how to navigate the website to get to Lesson 6 are found here.
  • Vocabulary we will be learning to write:
    • yóu -game
    • xì -game
    • jiě – older sister
    • dì –younger brother
    • qián – in front, before
    • pǎo – to run
