Chinese

We will be doing review this week and will begin Unit 13 from Singapore the following Monday post-Thanksgiving break. The vocabulary we will be learning to read are all from the stories that are sent home (from the Singapore website). The vocabulary we will be learning to write are the following:
  • sòng -to gift/give
  • gěi- to give to
  • yǐ- permission (可以)
  • hóng- red
  • sè- color
  • yào- to want
  • bào- to hug
  • liǎng- two (classifier) (两个)
  • ge- classifier (one, two, three, counter word)
We encourage you all to have your student practice writing the above characters (and using them in sentences, which they should be able to do by now) frequently. Any repetition is beneficial, as they are hard to memorize sometimes!

Chinese Readers

The readers are still coming home on Mondays and should be back at the latest by the Friday of the same week. They are not expected to read them perfectly, but are expected to be able to pull out characters they know from class. Please make sure they keep track of these readers and return them, as they cost $5.00 each and will not be able to receive the next book until they have turned in previous books.

Math
Continuing Unit 6: Mental Addition (two-digit addition, place value). Test most likely will be Dec 6.

Homework Expectations:
  • Homework will be given Mon-Thur in English & Chinese (except for occasional "no homework" days after a long day of testing or other occasional exceptions)
