Announcements:

• Library is back to Tuesdays.
• Gym is always on Thursdays, so please remind kids to wear sneakers that day.
• No School 1/19 due to Martin Luther King Day. 
• Don't forget to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences (Feb 2 Mon & Feb 4 Wed).
• Spelling Bee- Thursday 1/22 @ 1:00 pm. Class Spelling Bee to determine finalists is Friday 1/16. 
• Great news! Every student showed growth on the standardized reading test, R-CBM. Congratulations!!! So proud of you all. 

English:
 
Unit 3  REVIEW WEEK. 40-question test on Thursday! All content on homework will be representative of test material, so please review homework with kids. No additional spelling words.

 Chinese:
 We will be continuing Better Chinese Chapter 25 about locations. "Where is it?" (它们在哪里?) The red characters are one's we will be adding on in addition to the one's in black from last week. They will be learning to write these.

• 前 qián- in front of, first
• 外 wài- outside
• 面 miàn- surface, place (外面，后面，前面）
• 书 shū-book
• 包 bāo-bag
• 电 diàn- electric (computer: electric brain: 电脑）

We will be practicing for the Chinese New Year performance in Februrary, so get excited. And if you hear your kids singing themselves to sleep, that's why ;)

 Math:

We will be starting our next Unit (Unit 9) on Subtraction with Regrouping.
