欢迎学生们!

WELCOME to our blog! We are excited for this new school year!

On this blog you will find:
  • links to websites that can help your children's Chinese/math (look to left sidebar)
  • weekly newsletter posts explaining what your child is learning in both the Chinese/English classes
  • videos/pictures of your kids speaking/singing Chinese in class
  • instructions on how to access Chinese curriculum/navigate the website that is in Chinese (see previous post)
Please let Mrs. Campo or Ms. Hatch know if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you and getting to know your amazing children!

Instructions on how to access Chinese curriculum

Below are directions on how to access/navigate the website that will contain all of our Chinese curriculum for 2nd grade!

The website is: http://xuele.moe.edu.sg/xuele/slot/u107/index1.html

When you click there, you will see this screen shot:
When you choose this option, you will have a drop-down menu. Choose the 2nd option.

Then you will see this screen: (this contains all of the units we are on. We will start in Unit 6 and then skip to Unit 8, etc...look to weekly newsletters that will be posted to know which Unit we will be doing!)
After that, you will come to this screen:
You can explore the options in the center. The first option usually contains a story, the second option is sometimes a song or another story that we'll learn in class.

Some of the options in the center will ask for a username/password. Because of copyright issues, we do not have access to some of the materials.

It would be great to review the stories often that we are covering in class to reinforce the Chinese!

Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Mental Math with Regrouping Helps

Here are some great resources online for your kids to practice mental math and addition with two-three digit numbers:

I would suggest clicking on the "Two-Digit Addition with Carrying" link. They can play a game where they get points as they get more right.

A few more good websites:

Audio for book 2 A 1

Click on link above to hear an audio I recorded to go along with books the kids made today in class. Their homework is to practice reading the book three times to someone/thing. If they don't know the words/characters, they can read along with me, but the goal is to read on their own with the characters eventually. Hope this helps!
