Newsletter 5/10

We wanted to thank you all so much for the generous gifts for Teacher Appreciation! We feel very spoiled and grateful for your continued support throughout the year and now. We have loved working with your kids and you as parents! Thank you for making our experience this year wonderful. 

Here are some updates on the info being taught this next week in Chinese/English. 

English literacy
  •  Unit 6 Week 4: Question of the week: "What can we learn about cowboy traditions?"

Chinese literacy:

We will begin Lesson 10 in Singapore 2 A. It is about traveling and the country Singapore. For directions on how to access Singapore 2 A, see previous blog post here.  
  • Vocabulary we will be learning to write:
    • 住 zhù- to live
    • 美 měi- beautiful, pretty, pleasing
    • 丽 lì- beautiful
    • 方 fāng- upright, square, place
    • 分 fēn- part, share, ingredient
    • 行 xíng, háng- OK, to walk, to travel
    • 加 jiā- to add, plus, also used in "Canada" and "Singapore"
    • 坡 pō- slant, slanted (used in "Singapore")
    • 名 míng- famous, name
    • 公 gōng- public, international, fair
  • Vocabulary we will be learning to read/listen to/say: All on the Singapore website in the stories and in the stories sent home to practice reading (Year 2 Unit 9).
Math:
  • Unit 11: Adding and Subtracting Three Digit Numbers continuing this week!
Homework Expectations:

In both English and Chinese classes, homework will usually now be given Monday-Thursday.

English: daily practice of spelling and vocabulary from weekly story. 
Math: English worksheet reinforcing concepts taught in Chinese class daily.
Chinese: homework will consist of character practice, character worksheets, or reading.
