We will be starting the next unit in Chinese, 2 A 5. This unit is about seeing clouds that looks like animals (I know, kind of strange to say in English ha ha). They will be learning animal terms as well as some body part terms. They will be learning to read the terms in the stories as well as write the following vocabulary terms:
  • yuán- park

  • duō- ear (classifier for small things)
  • bí- nose
  • zi- nose
  • shuǐ- water
  • cǎo- grass

We encourage you all to have your student practice writing the above characters (and using them in sentences, which they should be able to do by now) frequently. Any repetition is beneficial, as they are hard to memorize sometimes!

Chinese Readers

The readers are still coming home the first day of the week and should be back at the latest by the Friday of the same week. They are not expected to read them perfectly, but are expected to be able to pull out characters they know from class. Please make sure they keep track of these readers and return them, as they cost $5.00 each and will not be able to receive the next book until they have turned in previous books.

Continuing Unit 12: Geometry!

Homework Expectations:
  • Homework will be given Mon-Thur in English & Chinese (except for occasional "no homework" days after a long day of testing or other occasional exceptions)

新年快乐!

We are so proud of your hard work! 新年快乐!

This song is about the 12 Chinese Zodiacs. See if you can tell which animal we are singing about!

Our second song is called "Dong Dong Qiang" and, in addition to celebrating the New Year, talks about all the different seasons of that upcoming year - see if you can tell which season we are singing about!

And here are some pictures from the event:
