Newsletter 10/31

Announcements:
  • Chinese Corner- happens twice a month after school - a great opportunity for students to speak and practice Chinese in a low-stress, fun environment. Look for email from Kami McMaster to sign up for it (first-come, first-serve basis)

In addition to our vocabulary words we are learning to read, we will be learning to write the following characters (we started last week but got too busy with Halloween festivities and bigger projects to make a lot of progress so we are still working on them this week):
  • zuò- to take, take a seat, to sit
  • qù- to go to
  • lái- to come to
  • zén- how
  • me- interrogative symbol (怎么,什么)
Please encourage your kids to practice writing as much as possible at home, as it improves all other aspects of Chinese (reading and listening).

Lingt + Stroke Order Practice- Better Chinese Unit 17

I am starting to use a new website called "Lingt" where your children can record their responses online and I can send them feedback. Really cool. See here to help your kids record their responses:




Here are the characters we are learning to write this next week. I found a way to post the stroke order for each character. Exciting, in a nerdy kind of way! 
  • zuò- to take, take a seat, to sit (to take the bus)
  • qù- to go to
  • lái- to come to
  • zén- how
  • me- interrogative principle (how- 怎么)
